New Blogs to Repost Knols

Knol a good platform for collaborative writing is being discontinued by Google from 1 May 2012 because it is not getting good number of visitors. But Google announced that there is good content and arrangements were made to transfer this content to Wordpress blogs under a specially made theme Annotum.

I am moving all my collaboration based Knols and collections to Annotum. But individual knol articles are being posted in various blogs, both new and old.

The article has good points. Even though I do not agree with the idea that Knol has not proved its utility. Knol proved its utility to readers and progressing every day. I made a comment already and I need to go back and make more detailed comment.

Google's Knol Progressing forward

Yes, Knol is going forward and growing. So far in this year, 200,000 new knols posted. By year end we will see 300,000. May be next year we will see 500,000. Knol is attracting many new authors.

Page views and visitors are increasing. We estimate 5.23 million unique visitors per month. Momentum is very good and we will reach 6.2 million in two or three months.

Knol authors even though very silent are doing a good job. Congratulations.

50,000 monthly visitors for knol portfolio

Happy to record the fact that my knol portfolio had 50,000 visitors for the montly period ending on 5.5.2011. Took approximately three years for the milestone. I am hoping that this number will doube in a year's time and my portfolio will have 100,000 (one lakh) visitors.

I always advocated that on Knol many authors have posted good content. But there is no way we can easily find out good content on Knol and highlight them to all.

10 Million Page Views for Online Articles Possible

There are online article writers on Hubpages, Associated content, Ezine, etc. with 10 million page views (Details of 10 million authors ). Even on Knol there is one author now with 5 million page views and in a year's time, he will reach 10 million page views. There are some more authors who will reach such milestones on Knol. I am presently having 35,000 page views and some time back, the number could be 50,000 page views. The number is likely to increase as the Knol platform becomes more popular and authors support each other more.

So there is scope for online writing even now. Especially when the area of writing is areas where online content is sparse, the chance of success increases significantly.
